Japanese woodblock prints have fascinated me ever since my time
in the army on Okinawa.
Today, many of the old prints have gotten extremely expensive. Some prints have become faded, stained and sun bleached, making them dull and uninteresting.
The images you see here are redrawn prints using the original woodblock images.
Do I retrace some of the original black lines… Yes.
Do I take the liberty of modernizing the images… Sometimes.
Do I like the results… Yes.
